I first heard about Bad for the Boss on Alisha Rai’s Twitter feed. (Side note–Alisha Rai is an amazing author and you should read her books.) She was tweeting about how Bad for the Boss featured a plus-sized heroine and that it was well handled, and that there was an instance of sexual harassment that well handled. I was intrigued.I bought bad for the boss from Amazon for my kindle app and couldn’t put it down.
Jennifer is a plus sized woman with a dark past. She’s working as a social media rep in an advertising company. The office sleaze is hitting on her, and she sends an email to her friend asking for help to get her out of this situation. But she didn’t send it to her friend–she sent it to one of the partners.
Theo is a work-obsessed man who is unprepared for the accidental email, and is intrigued. He replies, insisting that the work-place should be harassment free, and adds a more personal note. When she replies with a reassurance that she’s fine, but a snarky ps, he’s hooked. He needs to meet Jen.
The connection between the two is irresistible, and as a reader I totally bought in. Jen and Theo are three dimensional people, and you see a glimpse of their lives beyond the office. While Theo is Chinese and Jen is Black, race isn’t an issue beyond a few respectful gestures. Nor is Jen’s weight an obstacle–Theo is hooked on her curves and finds her gorgeous, full stop. As a fat woman myself, it was so refreshing to see a plus sized heroine who I liked and identified with.
When dark things happen, Theo wants to protect Jen, but I don’t want to spoil the ending.
The book is a fast, hot read (I was ready to jump my partner after some of the sex scenes, or failing that, find some other release). I was thrilled to find out there’s a sequel, and have already bought it.
I highly recommend Bad for the Boss. If all the erotica I read this year is this hot, I’ll burn out my vibrator.

Bad for the Boss A BWAM Office Romance Just For Him Book 1 edition by Talia Hibbert Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
This for me was an okay read with good fat rep (!!!) for almost half the book. But without warning we get a change in the guy's reaction to the girl just when she needs him? That is a big nope for me. (It looks to me very much like hey, it's time for some drama so he's going to be kind of a dick here.) Since the story had been just okay to me to begin with, I won't finish reading.
I have a lot of books waiting that I know will better satisfy what I need YMMV.
Jenny's sarcastic humor had me ROTFL!ππ Jenny newly hired and young has an encounter with her rich boss Theo and sparks fly. She likes him but is afraid a relationship with him will eventually cost her job if things turn sour. Add in an early childhood trauma and sick elderly grandma jenny has issues. Theo is an alpha though and will even draft a relationship contract so jen can feel secure even if they break up.I enjoyed Jenny and Theo's story although at times Jenny's indecision about there relationship was unbearable at times I could understand. Its a full read no cliff hanger I just wish there was more about there relationship progress after her accident. (Waiting for for that epilogue Mrs. Taliaπ)
Bad for the Boss is a British romance that featured a half-Asian guy and a plus-sized Black gal. Not sure if it's good or bad, but I hardly noticed the race of the characters once I'm into the story.
Theodore Chamberlain is a stereotypical badboy businessman with terrible temper. He should have never met model employee Jennifer Johnson, until Jennifer's email accidentally ended up in his inbox, and he's intrigued, and what he wants... he gets. Jen's not ready to give in, as she does not want to risk her perfect job for a fling, but Ted's determined to offer her any guarantee she wanted, as long as he can have her... And when a threat from her past surfaced, Ted's there...
Ted's supposed to be Asian? Well, he's HALF-Asian, supposedly his father married Chinese from Hong Kong. And JJ is black with curves. But I honestly don't feel much ethnicity there in the book except for occasional bits. The guy's British except for his name (Ted's actually his middle name). The plot was actually above average, with a bit of bookend beginning and end. All in all, above average.
It was really a 4.5 for me but rounded up to a 5. I suppose I was expecting just an office romance so when the suspense stuff hit, I was like wtfff? Lmao. But I did really love the book in it's british charm and intelligent humor. I think What I loved about this book is that the heroine and her bff were blackity black. Natural hair, healthy sized and showed true sisterhood. I kept thinking to myself the whole time reading it that I loved how much the heroine and her bff reminded me of me and my friends. It didn't matter that I'm American and these characters were English, they were me and I was them. That was awesome.
I think my only other complaint was that outside of Theo being called an asian guy once by someone drunk, there were no other indicators that he was a Chinese/White hero. He could have just been white and it wouldn't have mattered because there were so few clues and description tags that let me know he was a mixed race hero the way the heroine was written CLEARLY and UNAPOLOGETICALLY Black. Like I said, he could have been white and it wouldn't have mattered since there was little talk about his family or background.
I buried that complaint when he offered to detangle her hair though. That's husband status right there! Loved it!
