Stargazer Claudia Gray Books
I wasn't sure where the book was going to go next but wraiths/ghost wasn't the direction I expected. Bianca and Lucas have been separated the whole summer and when the students come back Vic gives her a letter from Lucas and their relationship continues in secret. This goes on the whole book and no one is none the wiser about Bianca being a born vampire. That in itself becomes the issue because thought out the book wraiths keep coming to the school but only keep appearing to Bianca. When she finally figures out all the human students are there because they see ghost and tells Lucas events have already come into place for the ending. By the end Bianca has discovered her parents big secret and has basically cut them off. I loved that we got to see more of Balthazar and new characters. Can't wait to see what the next book has in store!Tags : Amazon.com: Stargazer (9780061284403): Claudia Gray: Books,Claudia Gray,Stargazer,HarperTeen,0061284408,Fantasy - General,Horror,Romance - General,Boarding schools,Boarding schools;Fiction.,Horror fiction,Horror stories,Schools,Schools;Fiction.,Vampires,Vampires;Fiction.,Children: Young Adult (Gr. 7-9),Fantasy & Magic,Fantasy & magical realism (Children's Teenage),Fiction,Fiction-Fantasy,Horror Ghost Stories (Young Adult),JUVENILE,Juvenile Fiction,Juvenile Grades 7-9 Ages 12-14,Love & Romance,Monograph Series, any,Paranormal,TEEN'S FICTION FANTASY,TEEN'S FICTION HORROR & GHOST STORIES,United States,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Fantasy General,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Girls & Women,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Horror,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Romance General,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Social Themes General (see also headings under Family),Young Adult Fiction,Young Adult FictionGirls & Women,Young Adult FictionSocial Themes - General (see also headings under Family),Fantasy & Magic,Love & Romance,Paranormal,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Fantasy General,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Girls & Women,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Horror,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Romance General,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Social Themes General (see also headings under Family),Young Adult FictionGirls & Women,Young Adult FictionSocial Themes - General (see also headings under Family),Young Adult Fiction,Fiction,Horror Ghost Stories (Young Adult),Children: Young Adult (Gr. 7-9),Fantasy & magical realism (Children's Teenage)
Stargazer Claudia Gray Books Reviews
(I will keep this review as spoiler-free as I can, but if you haven't read the first book yet, proceed with caution.)
While I certainly enjoyed Evernight, the first book in Claudia Gray's trilogy, I definitely think that Stargazer was a better read. Gray shows quite a bit of improvement with this story and leaves us hanging, anxiously waiting for Hourglass (due out in March).
Gray directed more focus on vampire and other paranormal lore and I think that definitely added to the interest of the overall story. While we find the inevitable love triangle (yes, I think they are overdone), Gray does basically dispense with it by the end of the story. Unfortunately I found myself rooting for the one who wasn't chosen--for some reason Lucas just was not appealing to me as much in this book, go figure. Maybe that storyline will improve in the third book, or perhaps the forbidden/impossible love theme is simply a bit tired at this point.
Happily, Stargazer is fast-paced and I do think that it is better developed overall in this book. I wasn't left with the feeling that the story was being rushed at the end to tie up some loose ends, the way I felt with Evernight. I am really quite interested to see where Bianca's story takes her--the minor twist in her heritage made for an interesting departure from things I have traditionally read about vampires. Speaking of twists, the one I just mentioned was really the only one of interest this time around--there weren't any truly big shockers like there were with the first book. But because the pacing was so much improved, I didn't really miss the mega plot twists.
Bottom line If you enjoyed Evernight, I think you will like Stargazer even more--I know I did. And there is a lot of potential for the third book to be a great conclusion to the trilogy.
Going into Stargazer, I was expecting it to be like alot of "in between" books in series. Kind of just a book that's a preface for the next book. And in the beginning it seemed like it would be. But as soon as I got into the good stuff, I found myself liking Stargazer better than the first one!
There is another supernatural element added into the plot that adds to the excitement. There is also a new character that adds alot of drama. We also find out a little more about what's going on with Mrs. Bethany. That's all I want to say on the plot, because I don't want to spoil the surprise.
We have some great character development in this book that just makes you love the characters more. Even though Lucas and Bianca were separated alot in this book, There are some great moments with them together that make up for it. They really grow as a couple. Bianca is still just as easy to love and root for as ever.
I loved seeing more Balthazar in this one. The love triangle was turned up a few notches. After reading Stargazer, I have decided I want Balthazar as mine. Bianca can have Lucas, but I want Balthazar and all his yummyness. I just love how even though he is so much older than Bianca in real years, he always treats her as an equal (take some pointers Edward). Okay, moving on because I could talk about Balthazar all day.
Bianca and Raquel's relationship as friends grows stronger. We get to see them both being there for each other during tough times. It was nice to see Bianca with a set girl friend. Vic was just as goofy and himself as before, but you can also see his intelligence behind the goofiness. There is something about Ranulf, with him being one of the oldest vampires and being so out of touch with the modern world, that makes me just love him and want to give him a hug. He had me laughing at some of the things he said.
I still love that aspect of the story. How vampires lose touch of the modern world in time. It just makes sense, but I have never seen that in a vampire story before. Scenes like the vampires trying to drive a car or Balthazer learning dance revolution are awesome.
My only dissappointment was the absence of Patrice, Bianca's roommate from the year before. She really grew on me in the last book. But there are so many fantastic characters that it didn't really bother me.
The ending is action packed and ended at a scene that made me so happy I had the next book in the series at hand. I had to know the outcome of Bianca's new scenario. Stargazer was an excellent new installment to the series that I just coudn't put down. This is definitely a series not to be missed.
I am so glad I finally picked up this series, I loved Evernight (book one) and I loved Stargazer even more. It was an entertaining read full of intense situations and I really liked discovering more about Balthazar who even though I know will not be the one to end up with Bianca I still like his character way more then Lucas. As far as Lucas and Bianca go, their relationship is definitely tested in Stargazer.
I really loved it when the wraiths entered the scene at first I didn't know what to make of it but as some secrets were revealed everything started making sense and I am really interested to know what Bianca's choices will be for her future.
So now there are Wraiths, Vampires, and Vampire Hunters all thrown into the mix and I'm loving every second of it. This series so far is full of action and page turner moments now add that with the cliffhanger at the end and this makes for a really good read. I'm so glad I waited to read the series because I don't have to sit around and wait for the next book to be released.
Overall even if your sick of Vampire reads or have phased out of it (like I have) I still recommend picking this up, it's worth the read.
